Chimney Fire

On a cold winters’ day, it is wonderful to be snug inside your home with a roaring wood fire going in your fireplace. Most wonderful, yes! The smell of a natural wood fire and the crackle of the wood as it burns is so comforting. Until suddenly, you hear a loud popping sound resembling a freight train. You discover it is coming from your chimney.

You dial 911 to call the fire department to come out. They get their quickly. Ladder trucks and firemen are busy at work, putting the fire out. Amazingly they are able to stop the fire before it spreads beyond the chimney.

Damage is accessed. The fire was contained to the chimney, and smoke went out the top. But the chimney is damaged. The hot fire cracked clay flue tiles in the chimney. They must be repaired.

Chimney Repair

This is where we come in. The homeowner called Kirley to assess the situation. It was discovered that there was extensive damage to the flue tiles that would need to come out.  The homeowner inquired about installing a wood stove and installing a liner in place of new flue tiles. This became a great cost-effective solution.

Our technicians removed the damaged tiles, being extremely careful not to damage the adjacent oil flue. One by one, the damaged tiles were removed.

Wood Stove Installation

We chose to run a flexible insulated liner up the chimney for this job. Next we inserted and connected an Osburn 1100 wood insert to the piping.

As a result of fire damage leaving a fireplace in need of repair, Kirley removed broken flue tiles left behind from the chimney fire, lined the chimney with a new insulated liner and inserted a new wood burning insert, sure to keep this home safe and warm for years to come.
